Our Mission

Partners for Sustainable Schools works to integrate sustainability in all aspects of K-12 education in Lane County, providing young people with opportunities to develop life skills that build wonder, hope, and vision.

 
Working in partnership with local government, non-profit organizations, businesses, higher education groups, and dynamic individuals, we develop programs, coordinate projects, and establish connections that help provide schools with information, curriculum, activities, and resources for promoting and modeling sustainability in all facets of their operations, both inside and outside the classroom.

Oregon Green Schools - Ready to Go Green?

Oregon Green Schools is a statewide program that helps schools conduct waste, water, and energy audits, develop goals and action steps for improving their operations, and receive public recognition of their efforts.  Emphasis is given to involving students so that they have opportunities for hands-on learning about basic tenets of sustainability and for empowering each other to address other important aspects of sustainability within their schools and communities.

Cool School Challenge - Is Your School Cool?

The Cool School Challenge has come to Lane County, and now is the time to sign up and discover how cool your school really is!

The Cool School Challenge is an educational and leadership development program that engages students and teachers in practical strategies to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions schoolwide. At the heart of the Cool School Challenge is the philosophy that big changes start with small steps, and that taken together, simple individual actions create a world of difference.
